Fascination with natural forms, stones, and found objects merges with a reflection on the energy inherent in these elements and the unseen spaces both around and within us that are felt rather than observed. Drawing on her studies in landscape architecture and food design, Heiter X creates immersive experiences that explore these themes. Her work aims to inspire meaningful conversations and deepen our connection to the living world and the deeper reality that underpins it.

Creations
Terra Firma
Installation and sculptural tabletop, 2022-2024 / clay, edible plants, repurposed organics, structural base / sets vary; module size 60 x 130 cm, H 5–20 cm / all unique
Terra Firma is an evolving installation and collection of sculptural tabletops that rethinks our relationship with food and the environment. Each piece serves as a platform for mindful eating, integrating natural and repurposed materials like raw clay, carnauba wax, and biomass. Designed to grow edible sprouts, these surfaces highlight the lifecycle of food while fostering a deeper connection with what we consume. Through its tactile, sustainable design, Terra Firma invites reflection on how food production and waste can be incorporated into our daily lives, sparking conversation and encouraging more conscious consumption.
Mound
Tabletop Artefact, 2023 / clay, lime, hemp, soot, finish / base Ø 10–50 cm, top Ø 15–80 cm, H 10–30 cm / all unique
The Mound Collection reimagines the essence of mounds by turning them upside down, challenging conventional views and inviting fresh interpretations. Inspired by the everyday accumulation of waste, each piece embodies the form of these discarded heaps and integrates waste materials, including remnants from the Terra Firma installations. The result is sculptural serveware—each artefact is one-of-a-kind, mirroring the individuality of mounds shaped by both natural forces and human actions. These pieces are imperfect, unique, and infused with the raw, transformative energy of the earth.
Shiikra
Tabletop Artefact, 2024 / shiitake, clay, soot, finish / Ø 10 cm, H 13 cm / all unique
Crafted from the substrate of shiitake mushrooms that have already yielded their first harvest, Shiikra embodies a second life for these organic materials. Each piece combines the textures of spent mushroom substrate and clay, creating earthy, tactile artefacts that celebrate the lifecycle of fungi. By transforming discarded substrates into sculptural forms, Shiikra highlights the potential of reuse and renewal of remnants.
Fossora
Functional Sculpture, 2024 / clay, foam glass, hemp, plaster, soot, finish / base Ø 25 cm, top Ø 35 cm, H 20–40 cm / 9–22 kg / all unique / produced in collaboration with Krohwin
Fossora draws its name from the Latin for “she who digs,” embodying the concept of a block of earth freshly dug from the ground. Each piece resembles a segment of soil with its rugged texture and earthy presence. The substantial weight and organic forms evoke the mass and solidity of the earth, grounding the sculptures as raw, tactile reflections of the natural world.
Totem
Functional Artefact, 2024 / cork, clay, soot, lacquer finish / base 15 x 15 cm, top 40 x 40 cm, H 40 cm / 5 kg / all unique
Inspired by the concept of totems, these sculptural pieces are designed to be both functional and flexible. Whether used as supports for objects or as legs for tabletops, they can be moved around the room to reshape the flow of space and encourage interaction. Each totem transforms placement into a ritual of movement and discovery, inviting users to engage with their surroundings in dynamic ways. Rooted in shared exploration, these pieces redefine how we interact with both objects and space.
